HSK-Chinese Proficiency Test 中文水平考试

The Chinese Proficiency Test/HSK is an international standardized assessment designed for learners of Chinese worldwide. HSK comprehensively evaluates test takers' ability to use Chinese in daily communication, academic study, and professional settings.

Tier and Level Descriptors

Elementary	HSK Level 1	Able to understand and use very simple Chinese words and sentences, and capable of continuing Chinese language learning.
	HSK Level 2	Able to communicate in Chinese in a simple and direct manner on familiar topics in daily life.
	HSK Level 3	Able to perform basic communication tasks in Chinese for daily life, study, and work.
Intermediate	HSK Level 4	Able to carry out generally complete, coherent, and effective social communication on complex topics in daily life, study, and work.
	HSK Level 5	Able to carry out fairly complete, fluent, and effective social communication on complex topics in daily life, study, and work.
	HSK Level 6	Able to perform fairly rich, fluent, and effective social communication on topics related to professional study and work.
Advanced	HSK Level 7	Able to carry out generally standardized, fluent, and appropriate social communication on a wider range of higher-level topics.
	HSK Level 8	Able to carry out fairly standardized, fluent, and appropriate social communication on various advanced or professional topics.
	HSK Level 9	Able to integrate various skills to carry out standardized, fluent, and appropriate social communication on various topics in a variety of contexts.
